The Eastern Suburbs Dog Training Club runs obedience training for puppies and adult dogs and activity classes for adult dogs on most Sunday mornings on the grounds beside Musgrave Avenue in Centennial Park, in the heart of Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.

Responsible Dog Ownership Class (February 2014)

After an initial training program, in Puppy Classes and/or Adult Dog (6 months and older) Responsible Dog Owners Course, you and your dog will automatically progress to our Foundation Class and/or Class 1. Thereafter progression to advanced level classes is earned by passing Promotion Tests.

Please note: The Club welcomes all dogs provided they are fully vaccinated. A current vaccination certificate must be provided when joining the Club and renewing membership.

Adult Dogs

Adult Dog Classes are suitable for dogs aged 6 months or older. The Club offers a 6 week Responsible Dog Ownership (RDO) Course. Recorded attendance for each week of the course earns the owner and dog a Certificate of Attendance and progression to either our Foundation Class, where both can build upon the exercises covered in the RDO Course, or to Class 1 of the Club's Advanced Training Classes. The Club runs further Advanced Training (Classes 2 to 4), for which promotion tests must be passed for progression.

Activity Classes

The Club runs Activity Training Classes, based on the Agility dog sport, to complement our Obedience Training. These classes teach handlers and dogs how to navigate an obstacle course, including bar jumps, tyre jumps, tunnel, weaves and broad jumps.

Promotion Tests

Beyond our Puppy Classes and Responsible Dog Ownership Course, the Club offers incrementally more challenging Advanced Training in Classes 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Progression from Puppy Class to Week 4 of the Responsible Dog Ownership Course and from the Responsible Dog Ownership Course to Class 1 is automatic at the end of 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the stream joined. From then on, promotion tests must be passed for progression to Classes 2 to 4.
